Kyocera, today announced the launch of the Kyocera Koi for the Brazilian market. VIVO is the only Brazilian carrier to sell the Kyocera Koi - a sophisticated, easy-to-use handset offering a 1.2 megapixel digital camera and MPEG-4 video record and playback.
Featuring a large external display, the Kyocera Koi provides megapixel camera capabilities with a built-in flash, 5x digital zoom and 16 megabytes (MB) of onboard memory. Kyocera Koi gives users a camera phone solution producing sharp, clear images for saving, printing and framing photos as large as 4″ x 6.” The Kyocera Koi handset also features a sliding protective lens cover to prevent scratching of the lens in purses or pockets. In addition, Kyocera Koi’s zoom dial and shutter button allow the user to take photos as well as make, receive and ignore calls without ever opening the Kyocera Koi phone.
Kyocera Koi’s unique swivel-to-open design adds additional style appeal for the user who wants a cutting-edge look. Expanding on Kyocera’s renowned user interface, the Kyocera Koi phone features an extremely intuitive and user-friendly “pinwheel” menu option to quickly scroll through its many features.

The simple-to-use Kyocera Koi can be used in open or closed mode; opening the cover automatically launches Kyocera Koi into “camera” mode even when the Kyocera Koi phone is closed, making it simple to catch life’s spontaneous moments. The large 262,000-color display is always visible to the user, and both the phone and digital camera can function when the Kyocera Koi is “closed” by using the jog dial and shutter button on the side of the phone. Large, easy-to-press keys are also ideal for quick and accurate number input and text messaging.
The Kyocera Koi also features Photo Caller ID able to store up to 200 images to identify the caller; speakerphone, voice mail, speed dialing, MIDI polyphonic ringers; BREW™ 2.1 technology to download games and ringers; and a WAP 2.0 browser.
When opened, Kyocera Koi measures 17.6 cm x 5.0 cm x 2.5 cm; and 10.0 cm x 5.0 cm x 2.5 cm when closed. It weighs 114 grams with a standard battery and allows up to 3.5 hours of talk time and up to 100 hours of standby time(*).
Exclusively sold in Brazil by VIVO and its channel partners, the Kyocera Koi camera phone is available now for prices between R$ 900.00 and R$ 1,000.00. Koi will be available with the latest VIVO’s services, including Vivo ao Vivo (Vivo Live) features.
