Nikon CoolPix S5 Review The Nikon CoolPix S5 is a 6.0 megapixel digital camera with a 3x Nikkor ED 35-105mm zoom lens, one of latest from Nikon’s stunning S-series range of compact pocket cameras. This fashionable new Nikon CoolPix S5 camera promises high-performance photography along with its slim undulating form.

The new Nikon CoolPix S5 digital camera’s Pictmotion function, enables users to create slideshows within the camera using pre-installed modes, their favourite photos and movies along with five built-in audio files.

The camera is equipped with a 2.5 inch screen with a viewing angle of 170°, so pre-viewing photos and slideshows on the Nikon CoolPix S5 can be entertaining for everyone, a bit like a flat screen telly. The camera also includes the “Auto Image Rotation”, this function detects which way the image should be displayed, say you’ve taken a photograph with the Nikon CoolPix S5 on it’s side (Portrait), instead of showing the picture on it’s side the function flips it 180°.

Some of the uniques features of the Nikon CoolPix S5 include the new rotary multi-selector, this lets the photographer scroll through the taken images at ten frames per second, along with a dedicated set of buttons, on-screen icon and cursor make this much easier to track. The camera also includes a portrait button, now positioned on top of the camera which makes it much easier to access the Nikon CoolPix S5’s unique functions including; Face-priority AF, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix and D-Lighting.

The Nikon CoolPix S5 camera offers the user the choice of 15 photo scene modes and three movie modes with sound. The digital camera also incorporates “Time-lapse” video shooting, creating dramatic slow-motion film. The Nikon CoolPix S5 offers; USB connectivity and direct TV playback, Wi-Fi capability, so that images can be transferred from camera to the computer without the need for cables, PictBridge, print directly from the camera wirelessly with a PictBridge compatible printer, PictureProject photo editing software and last but not least, the Cool-Station MV-14, batteries can be re-charged while still in the camera.

The Nikon CoolPix S5 digital camera is expected to be available at the end of February 2006 and cost around GBP 299.99 or EUR 369.
